About Cedarcrest High School

Welcome to Cedarcrest High School, the home of the Red Wolves! CHS opened its doors in 1993 and was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School shortly after. The recognition was due to the innovative and responsive programs put into place at that time. We are proud of our past, but also proud of the fact that we have evolved as a school since 1993 and will continue to evolve to meet the needs of our students into the future.

At CHS we serve over 950 students in grades 9 through 12 as a comprehensive high school, with offerings from career and technology education to college preparation. Our on-time graduation rate of 95% is one of the highest in the state of Washington. Over 70% of our students go on to a four-year or two-year college after graduation. However, we pride ourselves on making sure that all students have a plan for their future, whether they are career bound or college bound.

Since our inception we have added over 18 honors and AP courses to our schedule. Our school and students have been recognized by the Advanced Placement Institute, named as a member of the “AP Honor Roll” six times. This honor is based on success in AP exams, improvement in programs and accessibility for students.

Balance in a student’s life is very important to us. As a member of the Wesco Conference students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of interscholastic sports. We are also proud to afford our students the opportunity to participate in over 30 activities and clubs, and we continually encourage our students to “get involved!” Additionally, our clubs and teams offer many leadership opportunities for students. Our music program has continually grown into one of the premier programs in Washington, annually receiving state and regional awards and recognition in marching band, concert band, jazz band and choir competitions. Likewise, within our CTE co-curricular programs (DECA, FBLA, FFA, FIRST Robotics, TSA, WCTSMA) we continually win individual and school awards at the state and national levels.

Finally, and most importantly at CHS, we believe that developing positive relationships with our students is the best way to motivate students to perform to their best ability. Our teaching staff is selected based not only on their content area knowledge, but also because we believe they know how to develop positive relationships that help inspire students. We will always be a school that sees positive relationships: student to teacher, student to student, and staff member to staff member as the most important aspects of a healthy, innovative and growth minded school environment. Your student is your highest priority and we know that selecting the right school is of extreme importance to parents.
