Reminder....Financial Aid Night

Wednesday, October 6th from 6-7PM


Hello Cedarcrest Class of 2022 families! Financial Aid Night is coming up! This virtual event is designed for students and parents to learn more about financing college. Darcy Kipnis, Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Lake Washington Institute of Technology will be our presenter. Topics will include:

  • Types of financial aid, including scholarships, grants, loans and work study

  • How to apply for financial aid

  • Overview of the FAFSA / WASFA

  • FAQ’s

Cedarcrest counselors and our College and Career Readiness Specialist will also be on-hand to share scholarship resources and answer questions.


The event will be on Zoom from 6-7PM on October 6th

You can also find a wealth of financial aid resources on the CHS Counseling Webpage – click on the “College and Career” link at the top of the page. You will find videos on Financial Aid Basics and Scholarships, an “Introduction to Financial Aid” PowerPoint, and a link to scholarship opportunities for class of 2022 students.


Here are further resources to help you through the financial aid process:

  • Go to https://studentaid.gov/ for information on Financial Aid, including a handy things-to-do checklist!

  • Go to https://wsac.wa.gov/financial-aid for Washington State Financial Aid program information.

  • Encourage students with questions to engage with Otterbot, a free texting service designed to help Washington high school seniors navigate financial aid for college. Students can access Otterbot via text message 24 hours a day, seven days a week by texting "Hi Otter" to 360-928-7281.

  • Contact the financial aid office of a school you are applying to for individual questions and guidance on your FAFSA application. Colleges you are applying to might have their own financial aid workshops you can join too.

  • Use the 24/7 FAFSA hotline listed on the FAFSA application

  • Go to https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa to begin the FAFSA
