IMPORTANT STATE TESTING INFORMATION

FOR THE 21-22 SCHOOL YEAR

NEXT WEEK WE BEGIN OUR STATE TESTING!

WASHINGTON COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT OF SCIENCE

Monday May 25th

The Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) is only taken by 11th grade students and will be administered during the regular school day in their US History class on April 25th. This test fulfills the federal requirement that students be tested in science once at each level: elementary, middle, and high school. It is important for our students to take this assessment seriously in order for us to utilize the results to inform science instruction. Students are expected to only need one testing day to complete this exam.

SMARTER BALANCED ASSESSMENT

ELA - Tuesday May 17, Wednesday May 18

Math - Tuesday May 24, Wednesday May 25

State Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) is given to 10th grade students and any 11th or 12th grade students who have not met the standard. Meeting the standard on the SBA is a requirement for graduation*. The SBA for ELA will be given on May 17thand 18th. The SBA for math will be given on May 24th and 25th. The testing days will be late arrival days for all but the testing students.

On SBA testing days, CHS will be on a modified schedule to allow students who are being assessed the best environment to maximize their focus and effort. Testing students must report to school at 7:35AM. Buses will run at the normal times. Those students who are not testing will report at 10:00AM. Classes will start at 10:15AM. Students who need to ride the bus to school and are not testing will be scheduled with teachers in individual study halls between 7:35 and 10:00AM. Students who are able to find their own ride to school may report between 10:00 and 10:15AM. Students are not allowed to leave the campus once they arrive.

Student rosters of where they are going to test will be posted in the commons.
